Southeast is where our shop is and where most of our week goes. Richmond, Hawthorne, Buckman, Sellwood-Moreland and Hosford-Abernethy are block after block of pre-1940 bungalows and foursquares with the original galvanized supply lines still in the walls, quietly closing up from the inside. The cast iron waste stacks under them are at the end of their service life, and the shutoff behind a leaking faucet is often older and more brittle than the faucet itself. Basements instead of slabs change where a leak shows up and how long it hides before you find it.
That mix is why fixture repair and whole-home repiping are the two things we do most on this side of the river. Further east, Foster-Powell, Lents, Mt. Scott-Arleta and Brentwood-Darlington bring more post-war stock and a different set of problems.
